the quick place to check is in curses.h (comments show some missing).

slk_attr_off/slk_attr_on are wide-character variants of
slk_attroff/slk_attron, respectively. Normally they are macros
but if ncurses is configured/compiled for wide-characters, there
is also a stub function.

with 5.1, I made trace optional (it's part of the debug library).
normally you won't see it.

like slk_attr_off, etc, it's a wide-character variant normally
implemented as a macro.
