hiding the cursor

dear all,

i can't find an ncurses mailing list -- this is the closest thing i can find
to one.  i know it's not the right forum.  if it's too much of a breech of
netiquette, let me know and i'll unsubscribe.  :)

i've been reading man pages, and can't figure out how to hide/unhide the
cursor.  what's the magic here?
