i've been reading the panel man pages and playing around with all the
functions tonight.
the man pages make reference to a panel's user pointer which you can get
and set with the panel_userptr() and set_panel_userptr() functions.
however, the man pages don't explain what a user pointer is.
the header file didn't give much of a clue either, other than the fact
that there's a member of the PANEL structure called user which is a
generic pointer.
can someone explain what this pointer is? are these functions used
mainly for the development of the panel library? or is there a use for
them?
