I would like to suggest the the terminfo for the
vt220 that is distributed with version 5.3 of ncurses be modified slightly. The
attribute 'ht=^I' wrecks havoc with the display of text in emacs. The symptoms
are that every 8 advances of the cursor to the right causes text to be blanked
out from the display. Typing ctrl-L to refresh the display corrects the bad
effects temporarily. I have found that eliminating the ht=^I from my terminfo
fixes the problem and does not have ill effects on other applications that make
use of ncurses.
