yes - I saw an earlier report on this (thanks).

This is harder. It would be nice to drop the -D's, but on some platforms
that might leave the headers uncompilable. Partly that's due to the case
where one is installing the wide-character interface, and partly that's
addressing platforms such as HPUX...
