bash crashes when ncurses install libtinfo

hello

i'm not shure if this can be changed but asking costs nothing ;)

i tried to install a fresh ncurses from source. while "make install"
installed libtinfo, bash crashed. starting a new bash was not possible.
i was able to repair the system by copying over the new libtinfo* files
manually. however, can it be that "make install" deletes and copies in
two steps instead of substituting in one step? possibly, there's a step
inbetween that needs the shell's "tinfo-capabilities" and crashes it?
