F-keys weirdness under Wide version

Somewhere between version 5.6 patched to 20080621-patch and 5.7, F-keys are 
not working right in the wide character version. 

Here's the goodies ->

Fedora release 7 32bit

Compiled like this:
./configure --prefix=/usr --with-shared --enable-widec --disable-macros 
--enable-sigwinch --without-cxx --without-cxx-bindings

TERM=xterm (GNOME Terminal 2.22.2)

Tested with:
test/ncurses

RESULTS
This is F1-F12 under NON-wide (a option)

Type any key to see its keypad value.  Also:
e  -- toggle echo mode                           ^q -- quit
g  -- triggers a getstr test                     s  -- shell out
k  -- toggle keypad/literal mode                 w  -- create a new window
m  -- toggle meta (7-bit/8-bit) mode             z  -- suspend this process
