hmm - shows that few people read that part of the faq (the file isn't
retained for autoconf part 2.5x).
The others are helpful though: from config.status I can (usually)
reconstruct the generated sources - such as include/curses.h which
is one possible source of the problem.
(Another possibility is some preset $CPPFLAGS which overrides the -I
options passed to the compiler - which usually shows up in a make-log).

I don't think so - it's not showing me the substitutions which are made.
