...I'm further along on this, perhaps complete it next weekend.
Today I've gotten as far as making the noted change to the headers, so it's
simple(r) to see that the symbol would be added using --enable-weak-symbols,
but I omitted that because tweaking the script to put this into the "right"
ncursest.map / ncursestw.map file seemed an unnecssary complication.
