hmm - I could pinpoint the change to line-drawing, but the problem is
simpler than that: the locale settings tell ncurses it can use UTF-8,
so it does that. If your installer used anything except US-ASCII,
you probably would notice this (unless some _recent_ change has been
made to Solaris console to support UTF-8 - in a quick check of my
Solaris VMs, none do that).
