GNU Ocrad is an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program based on a
feature extraction method. It reads images in pbm (bitmap), pgm
(greyscale) or ppm (color) formats and produces text in byte (8-bit) or
UTF-8 formats.
Ocrad includes a layout analyser able to separate the columns or blocks
of text normally found on printed pages.
The homepage is at http://www.gnu.org/software/ocrad/ocrad.html
Changes in this version:
* Character recognition has been improved. ('2' vs 'Z').
* The new filter "upper_num_mark" has been added.
* The output of "--help" has been extended.
* The targets "install-compress", "install-strip-compress",
"install-info-compress" and "install-man-compress" have been added to
the Makefile. (Installing compressed docs may become the default in the
future).

Antonio Diaz, GNU Ocrad author and maintainer.
