This is a follow-up on my previous message, but first a question:

I presume that one has to do "make install" as the superuser.  Is this
correct?  (That is, in fact, what I did, but I'd like to confirm that I
needed to do it that way.)

After installing ncurses-devel and getting oleo-1.99.16 as you suggested,
I did "./configure --without-motif", and then "make install".  Initially I
had problems, but apparently it was because the partition I was working on
was about 98% full.  After deleting some junk and moving some files to
another partition, I got the usage down to about 91% and then had no
problems configuring and installing.  (Hope this information will be of
some use.)
