[Bug-readline] readline 6.1 doesn't work on Windows XP

I've compiled readline 6.1 inclusive patch with mingw on Windows XP. If
I compile the examples and run them, I don't get the expected behavior.
For example if I run fileman and input some commands like list, pwd,
help; if I press the up arrow key two times I get two commands side by
side and If I press backspace or CTRL+A or CTRL+E I don't get anything.
The same happens with the other examples. Does it work or not on Windows
XP?
