What does "run away" mean here? I only know what it means for people:

I think it is meant metaphorically. In other words it is okay to do these
things if time and resources permit, but it should not become a major part
of the project's effort.
Perhaps some other wording should be used in case this confuses people who
might not be familiar with the colloquial expression "to run away with".
