Can you tell me more about the purpose/use of the .aux file?
It records cross-reference information.
Or point me into the documentation?
There is no documentation on the .aux file since ordinarily it just does
its job without problems :).
I don't know how should I 'hack it'.
All I was thinking of was to sed 8-bit characters into 7-bit, or the
other way around, or whatever is needed to make it work.
But never mind, because ...
With 7-bit constructs, texi2dvi fails to generate correctly the .ps
file, as shown in my previous mail.
... I didn't realize this. Sorry. That's definitely a bug in
texinfo.tex that should be fixable. I'll see if I can get you a patch soon.
I would welcome pointers to the patches you have recieved, in order
to check them myself. Also,
I don't think I've received any patches that would help here.
any anonymous cvs with the texinfo source?
http://savannah.gnu.org/projects/texinfo/, but there are no changes
relevant to these problems in there. You can also grab the latest
pretest from ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/texinfo/, which is currently
equivalent to cvs.
Thanks,
karl
