Hi Walter - you can get texinfo.tex and txi-ca.tex from the repository via
http://svn.savannah.gnu.org/viewvc/*checkout*/trunk/doc/texinfo.tex?root=texinfo
http://svn.savannah.gnu.org/viewvc/*checkout*/trunk/doc/txi-ca.tex?root=texinfo
(The latest texinfo.tex is also on ftp.gnu.org.)
You can just drop the files into your existing installation; building
from the development sources doesn't do anything with the TeX files
anyway.
Also ... if there are supposed to be l-dots in txi-ca.tex somewhere,
please let me know. I did not see them.
