Please, don't apologize. Whether these messages were relevant to the
problem or not, you were clearly experiencing a problem. You made a
reasonable (but in this case, incorrect) guess as to what sort of
information might be useful to help track down the problem. I'd much
rather you do that then not provide _enough_ information.

Oops, I just realized I forgot to push the commit I made yesterday, to
fix our use of "echo". Just did that now: please let me know if it does
not fix your problem on Mac OS.
