[Bug-wget] wget without http

Hi,

I'm looking for a solution to create a mirror from a networked drive
containing some course ware.
We only have http access. We access using a browser like this:
file:///G:/your%20education/coursedir/indexpage.htm

As far as I know wget will only accept http://adres
Is there any way to make it accept
file:///G:/your%20education/coursedir/indexpage.htm
or disguise this URL? Using parenthesis?
