Pre-POSIX compatibility that Wget used to do would probably be
inappropriate in this age, but it would be nice if Wget kept supporting
C89.  High portability was always part of Wget's mission, and that level
of portability is today offered by the C89/POSIX combination (with the
additions needed for Windows, of course).
