Hi Evangelos,

On my Debian unstable machines (different hardware, same software) with perl 
5.20.1 it always succeeds (i just ran it in for loop a few hundred times).

First let's check that we have the same versions:
$ sum tests/Test-proxied-https-auth.px
28676     4

Does the failure happen with each of these commands ?
        make check
        make check -j4
        cd tests; ./Test-proxied-https-auth.px

Could you please add '-d' to wget, like this:
my $cmdline = $WgetTest::WGETPATH . " -d --user=fiddle-dee-dee"

and send the output of a failed test ?
