[Bug-XBoard] xboard 4.8.0 and 4.9.0 Error with ./configure and no makeinfo

Could someone offer some advice to help me?  In the past

I've been able to build and install some programs like GNU chess,

followed the directions and the program runs fine (on this computer

and Linux distro).

The Problem:

Now, I'm trying to install xboard-4.9.0.  The first thing I do is

run ./configure its exiting with a 1, (the config.log file tells me that).

It seems the config step didn't work.

I try to run make and it says it cannot find makeinfo.

The other thing I tried to do was install a previous version, 4.8.0.

The same thing happens. 

As I mentioned, I have been able to follow simple instructions and

get programs like GNU chess built and installed on my system.  

Help!
