Indeed itcomes from teh GUI. What exactly is it that you do not understand about this message?

I ran across this in a PGN I created. The actual message was Error "Variant fischerandom not supported by Crafty-23.4". Since Fruit gives the same message, I believe the message is actually coming from the GUI. I'm using the packaged versions of xboard, crafty, and fruit from MX Linux stable repo.
