None of us uses this system.  We can't find problems in or maintain an
installation program that's used only on platforms we don't have
access to.

Why is it such a burden to require ginstall?  gmake is required as well,
which is unavailable on BSD systems by default.  You don't hear people
like me grumbling about it.

It's hardly an onerous requirement given that almost any program you
install from source will use install(1).
