Just a heads up regarding this patch which could be viewed as
intrusive.

We found through Salmonella that only three eggs turned out to break
directly, and these were all pretty obviously bugs in the eggs
themselves.  The egg authors have been contacted and supplied with
patches.

This has now been done.  I'll announce it on -users once availabile.

Please take note that the next changes to be pushed need to be noted
under 4.8.3 in NEWS.
