Hi,
I'm not sure if it is the right moment for this kind of patch, but
attached is one that removes srfi-13 from the core.
I've made an egg out of the removed srfi-13 code and put it under the
release/5 tree in svn.
I haven't tested this patch extensively -- basically "make check" and
installing & testing the srfi-13 egg.
