I concur, but would like to add that signalling to the build a packaging
situation might be helpful. IIRC there where some other distributions
or package managers needed specific features.
On the other hand, a package maintainer always has the option to apply patches,
so if this is a problem on (say) Alpine, I think applying the patch Sören
provided seems fine to me. Or is it a maintenance problem in the long run?
(I"m not too familiar with the problems package maintainers usually face)
