The UI is the single weakest point in circle and probably the largest barrier
against adoption. Also, with the recent release of names by Verizon with
respect to file sharing, new users will also be looking for file sharing/chat
programs that make their identity more difficult to determine.
My feelings are that a drastically improved UI should be the main target for
the 1.0 release. Then as Thomas suggested, the 1.0 release should be
advertised. If there is a possiblity of making circle more anonymous (maybe
a model like Freenet would be a good example that circle could adapt), I
suggest that release information for circle loudly proclaim features
protecting identity online are in progress.

At the very least, it will not be cost effective.
