It looks like you are building in the same directory as the 
source, if you are needing to ignore Makefile!  Not that 
anything is wrong with that, although it is not recommended 
for gcj; and Classpath is the source for libgcj.

At any rate, I made the changes you listed here.

Suggestion: assuming that there are no Makefiles
in the CVS repository, you would it be easier to
put 'Makefile' into the cvsignore file for the 
Classpath project's CVSROOT?
