I looked at this patch a little.
It is a bit cryptic.
Do you have an explanation for it?
Or, even better, a test case showing the
problem?  That would be quite helpful.

Also, note that the qsort code is duplicated
several times in Arrays.java.  Presumably if
this fix is good in one place, it should be 
made in all places...
