so i'll set a default of LIBC=gnu before running CPP

i don't know what you mean by "limiting to those systems" ... uClibc has a 
good number of ports (like ~25), so i don't see value in updating all but like 
10% of the Linux targets just because someone hasn't yet done a port for that 
arch.
