The debuggers at startup configuration only indicate the _type_ of
debugger to be used.  If you select GDB, DDD 3.2.95 and later will
automatically use WDB if GDB is not available.  You can also invoke
DDD as 

        $ ddd --gdb --debugger wdb

or (in DDD 3.2.95 and later) 

        $ ddd --wdb
