keyboard problem with DDD 3.3

Hi,

I'd appreciate if someone can share some ideas why DDD
does not respond to my keyboard.   

I've a Compaq 5420U running RH7.2, Gnome desktop.  DDD
would initialize and run fine, but none of the form
accepts keyboard entry.   I've tried keyboard
selection from Configuration menu and didn't seem to
make a difference.    Thank you much.
