maybe:
in makefile
gcc -g
or gcc -pg
?

Do you have seperate src/ and bin/
folders ?

Please add some more info of what you do.
please tell the comple warning/eror message

But my guess is you miss some debug parameters to
your compiler? (see gcc examples)

What language/compilers are you using ?
