[Debian-sf-devel] MITRE/USAF Sourceforge goes live

Greetings fellow SF hackers,

I know that Eric and I have been relatively quiet for a while, but
there's good reason. We've been busily fighting politics in getting our
SourceForge server up and running. And now, it's finally payed off. As
of yesterday afternoon, we're finally live! The project, named UDAMan
(for User-Developed-Applications-Management) has been a long time coming
now, and it's finally seeing fruition. Our services are now available on
the MITRE DMZ network at udaman.mitre.org, though you'll have to take my
word on that. Unless you're connecting from an airforce base or a MITRE
site, you should see a terse "Access Denied" page. We're currently
filtering client domains to only accept connections from MITRE and the
US Air Force (who this whole thing is for).

With this release up and running, we're looking to get back into hacking
SourceForge up into bite-sized pieces. :) On our radar is extensive work
on the security model to make it more robust, and more modular /
sensible theming / display system. We'd also like to make it easier to
re-brand the site without extensive hacking at things, though that might
have to wait until 2.6 is ready (with its much better multi-language
support). Also going to be looking into what it's going to take to get
stats really working. Managers like stats. :)

This version is based off of Debian-SF 2.5-29 (many recent changes
hand-applied by myself), with our internal revisions up to 1.1.6.

I really wish I could let you all poke around on the site so we could
show it off, but until we have a much finer-grained security model in
place that's just not possible. I want to thank you all for being a part
of this launch, and this wonderful open source project.
