DotGNU and FreeNet

Now that we are starting to figure out what kind of thing DotGNU
will be I got a bit amazed with the possibilities of deploying
DotGNU over FreeNet.. that seems to be a real computing freedom
dream come true.

I know very little about FreeNet but have a clue on the concept.
You turn your computer into a "node" and this node starts to serve
first data and then computer cycles to the whole world in a
distributed computing environment.

The concept is quite amazing and in this incarnation or in other
this thing is going to be part of our future.

Doc Searls from LinuxJournal had a point saying FreeNet could help
mitigate the tragedy of a sucessful site: it grows so big that the
onwer can't run it anymore. By "publishing" and "running" your stuff
over FreeNet you're letting the world host you for free.

I guess FreeNet hosting and serving DotGNU webservices is destined
to become FreeNet's killer application.

People is starting projects to run Internet services over freenet,
so you can store your website with FreeNet or an FTP site. One amazing
application is storing data using SQL over FreeNet.

I guess DotGNU will support FreeNet or FreeNet will support DotGNU
at some moment, in the future.

I just comment about this here to show the potential of the things
that free software is building.

Antonio
