This message is two years old. Why are you assuming that DotGNU is hated
merely because Tom had a different vision for cross-language platforms two
years ago? Everyone is welcome to their opinion.

DotGNU isn't the only attempt at a cross-language platform - Parrot is
another, more in keeping with Tom's goal of "let's do it our way". I'm sure
quite a few others could be Googled up at short notice.

I actually found Tom's message fairly reasonable given the time it was
written. A lot of people in the community have concerns about simply cloning
Microsoft's or Sun's approaches.

The way to allay people's concerns is to write the code, build the systems,
and show the value that way. Not to engage in conspiracy theories, digging
for ulterior motives where there are none.

DotGNU is now at the point where we are leveraging what the free software
community has built before, rather than simply cloning MS. For example,
pnetC will allow us to bring in a lot of other Free Software things that the
original designers of the CLI never imagined. That's real value.

Did you stop and think that perhaps you are getting hate mail because people
don't like your "I had a thought and everyone must therefore agree to it"
approach to debate? Having difference of opinions is important.

Less talk. More code!

Cheers,

Rhys.
