Hello,

UPDATE:

From https://mirrors.edge.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/util-linux/v2.36/v2.36-ReleaseNotes

"more(1) has been refactored to meet 21st century codding standards. Thanks to
Sami Kerola."

Hi there,

here's a thought on terminal pagers in Dragora:

Let's throw out /bin/more and just link it to /bin/less.

The less(1) command does have a more(1) compatibility mode. So, there
should be no harm in not having more(1) on the system.

Hmm.. does not seem fully compatible, e.g:

root@dragora:/usr/pkg>ls -1 | more -l
There is no -l option ("less --help" for help)

root@dragora:/>ls -l /bin/more
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 44 Jun 22 22:21 /bin/more ->
/usr/pkg/less_551_amd64-1@tools/usr/bin/more

The option '-l' does not have a equivalent in less(1)...

On NetBSD, for example, /usr/bin/more is a hard link to /usr/bin/less.

Just in case, in Dragora we prefer soft links.

The Linux more(1) command is part of the 'util-linux' package, which –
for whatever reason – also still ships the ancient pg(1) pager.

My suggestion is therefore to build 'util-linux' without those two
utilities for Dragora.

What do you think?

Yes, it can be done. But there is also a risk of losing not only the
possible more(1) options but also the manpage that provides
util-linux.
