Interesting, that's the difference between Python 2.6.1 and 2.6.2.  I
test on 2.6.1 before releasing (still on Intrepid here) and have not hit
this error at all.  I wonder what the Python folks were smoking,
introducing such an invasive change in a bug fix release.

Please go to Launchpad and report this as a bug so I'll remember it.
