The current distribution of GnuPGInterface.py is broken in a couple of
ways and does not have the additions I put in to the duplicity version
to harvest the child processes, so this would not have worked.

Something is keeping duplicity from harvesting the completed child
processes.  I don't know enough about the kernel processing to tell you
where to look in your custom kernel.  Perhaps a note to the Linux kernel
mailing list?
