Could you point some helpful file(s) in Duplicity with some hints in
case someone could be interested?

This is primary FTP server without shell accounts. It seems it was
easier for admins to set FTPS than SFTP there being able to make
bandwidth throttling. It's planned to disable plain FTP because of
security issues (that password is also used for other services).
