as it is mainly an archive you have there, old folders will not be changed but
only read, i wonder why you don't simply use an archive format rar, 7z ..
something with a secure encryption possibility, create archive folderwise and
simply load these to the unsecure remote storage of you choice.
i feel duplicity is a little bit over the top for your use case.
