Ahha, mentioning ssh-backend got me to think to try rsync://host//home/me/bak which works

 

what's your paramiko version?

I don't code python, so the directories for the namespace are:
/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/paramiko 
/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/paramiko-1.10.1-py2.7.egg-info

 

please add your issue to that bug above.
