i'd say the code matures with usage, meaning the longer it is used by more 
people the more probable it is that it is indeed stable :))
duplicity is a very small project, driven mostly by one maintainer and outside 
contributions, so there is just the quality assurance during development and 
some automated build tests. the majority of issues has to be found and 
documented by the user base in the bug tracker.

if you want this feature i suggest you tryout the 0.7.x line on one machine, do 
the whole cycle - backup, verify, restore for a while and see if it works out 
for you.
