Alex,

you can always install manually from tgz. here is a mini howto under 'INSTALL 
MULTIPLE VERSIONS'
  http://duply.net/wiki/index.php/Duply-documentation

boto is the python lib used to access s3. you can download the latest to a 
folder of your choice and add the folder to a PYTHONPATH environment variable 
to run your newly installed latest duplicity.

but maybe there is a recent duplicity/boto for your distro? i am not keeping up 
with all of them.
