There is a reason, though it may not be the strongest.
It's just odd to have a name without any other citation marker. How
would a reader know it's a citation?
Is it for cases similar to what Rudy asked about the other day, where
you basically have a split citation?
Doe says "something" (2019, p2).
In his case, he was wanting to do:
Doe (2019) says "something" (p2).
If so, may as well add them.
