making emacs hang with gnus+rss with wget

Symptoms:

First of all, im using CVS versions of emacs and of gnus.

The problem is that its possible to make emacs "hang" when you have
configured gnus to read a rss feed with wget, where the rss feed never
responds. 

You can't break out of the condition with ctrl-g. you get the
"autosave/core dump" prompt.

It is, however, possible to kill the wget process and emacs will
notice and return.


The real, emacs specific, problem is that its possible to make emacs
hang, aparently when a subprocess doesnt return as expected. That gnus
maybe doesnt behave as it should is another problem, and this
bugreport is not about that. 

Maybe I can help provide a better test case, but I'm not shure what to
look for.
