On second thought, I guess 5.2 will have that change, because I
already applied it to the 5.1 branch. Here are some changes that need
to be made to it before the 5.2 release.
- Figure out whether Emacs was so busy (example: fetching Gnus
messages) that it was unable to process the server's ping reply.
I'm guessing that this is possible, because I get a lot of
disconnects after a long busy period.
- Make a customizable erc-server-timeout option (separate from
erc-server-send-ping-interval) that is used to determine whether to
disconnect a hung server. This will allow servers to optionally
miss one or two pings before disconnect happens.
