Dear ff3d's,

The version 1.0-pre3 was released today. It is still an only CVS distribution 
(exept for Debian packages which should follow), the 'v1-0pre3' tag was 
associated to it.

What's new in 1.0pre3?
- ----------------------

* Added examples/ to tarball distribution (at last)
* Improved documentation generation (pdf and ps)
* Improved mesh reader (no more crash with Ridges, Edges and Corners)
* convection operator is now implemented for Tetrahedral meshes.
[Note the importance of the last point: it is now possible to compute 
Navier-Stokes for unstructured meshes.]

What about version 1?

Path to version 1 is still quite long since many features are still missing 
for the Fictitious Domain approach (strangely standard P1 FEM may be more 
mature) like special post-treatment meshes and so.

We are also getting troubles with the surface mesh generator which gives much 
better quality meshes but also crashes too often to be declared stable.

As it is done for medit, a special OpenDX interface should be written to 
replace the raw output that is good only for structured meshes.

The documentation is still very incomplete, especially for standard FEM 
special features which are not described at all.

Lots of details have to be fixed (POV parser complains for the camera 
statement for example, ...), so it is time to send bug reports, remarks and 
suggestions.


Finally, I think that if first version is delayed, it will also have much more 
feature that we first expected.
