had the same problem and later realized his system did not have IPMI.

Not sure if that is the case with your motherboard, or the more likely case is
the motherboard is not advertising IPMI properly.

Could you show the output of 'ipmi-locate'.  Information about your service
processor/ipmi via 'lspci' would be useful too.
