Off the top of my head:

If you share an IP, it's easier to manage and you use less IP addresses.
However, it's easier to make a mistake during the configuration, and you
could configure an invalid IP address (perhaps the IP address of another
machine on the network).  If your BMC sends out ARPs, bad things may
happen.

If you don't share an IP address, you do have to manage it more.  For
example, new hostnames to map to the IP address in /etc/hosts.

The bmc-config checkout only reads what is stored in firmware.  The
correct MAC address would be read from your normal network tools.
ifconfig(8) for example.  If you have only one ethernet NIC you're in
luck, it's easy to determine the right interface.  If you have > 1,
you'll have to consult your machine's manual.
